KAT WILSON

Kat Wilson’s unique and beguiling voice is entirely her own; her songs effortlessly fusing pop with coastal blues and just a dash of folk. Kat’s music is taut, sweet and drenched in the azure of the WA coastline that is a core part of her heritage. Add to that lyrics that come from a sharp observational eye and speak with a poet’s knack for creating meaning out of the ordinary, and you begin to get a sense of just what Wilson is capable of.
Kat’s career blew up with the release of her 2018 EP, We Are Bored, which features the WAM Award nominated track Ghost, initially released in 2017 and featured on the ABC TV drama The Heights. Later in 2018, Kat released follow up single, Sitting Alone, and was nominated for more WAM Awards in the Best Blues and Roots and Best EP categories. Kat’s third EP, Routine, was released on 25 October 2019.
Kat has sold out venues, toured across Western Australia and nationally, and had her music featured on local and national radio stations across Australia, including Triple J.
Described as a mash up of Paul Kelly and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kat Wilson’s sonic brew is infused with hours spent sitting on council verge-collection furniture and playing ping pong. This is Kat’s first year facilitating songwriting workshops for FolkWorld. She is grateful for this opportunity to empower young musicians in discovering their true potential.
